Hi, i'm wondering what sort of FPS increase I will see in games if I keep my 6800LE (unlocked to 12pixels) but go from a 2.4+athlon mobile (clocked to 2450mhz) to a E6300 clocked hopefully to about 2.1gig (300fsb x 7 on a Asrock dual mobo). Do you need much higher FSB's to get anything decent from these chips?
I'm currently trying to decide if I should just get a decent mobo (~450fsb), new RAM (DDR2 clocked around 400/800DDR) and a graphics card about as good as what i've got but PCI-E instead of my AGP I currently have. Or I can keep my current RAM (about 195 max speed), get a £35 dual mobo (PCI-E/AGP and DDR1/DDR2 compatible) and keep my current GPU until DX10 comes more affordable at which point i'll get my new DDR2 ram and a better mobo. Bah can't decide..if the conroe is crap with a lowish FSB then i'll just get all the new equipment now.
One last question, will I likely be capped by my GPU if I get a conroe so games will likely run only marginally better on my new conroe till I get a better one?
I've done a 3dmark benchmark and got 4001 3dmarks, and found that I beat all the other e6300's on the 3dmark comparison website..even in CPU score I did better. This is kind of worrying..is it because 3dmark will only use 1 core? If so I may actually run games faster on my current rig in single core games compared to my new conroe
