2.5 to 3.5 adaptor

I just bought an adaptor to install Windows through my desktop onto a laptop HDD, but its not recognising theres a HDD connected asking me to check connections and power leads etc. which I have and they all seem to be fine, heres the adaptor I've got.....

with molex connector on the end of the power leads


theres 2 wires going into the molex connector (red & black) should there be more?

I've tried cables I use everyday so I know the desktop cables are fine, any idea's why its not working?

Might sound stupid but are you sure that you have pin1 lined up correctly? And I think that 2 wires should be all you need for the molex connection.

Also make sure you have the HDD the right way around, if it doesn't work one way, spin it around and try the other. These HDDs don't have a missing pin to show which way around the cable connects.

Also you will know if the drive is powered because you will feel it vibrating.
