Anyone tried one of these products

2.5GBase-T PCIe Network Adapter from Ulansen
2.5GBase-T PCIe Network Adapter from ‎TRENDnet

I've been offered the 1gb package from VM for a decent price to stay with them. Though I have pointed out to them I would want the hub 5 not 4 so I can get the full benefits.

I'm still using a EX58-UD5 so need one of the above so any advice would be appreciated, I can't justify the price on a 10g version.

Did they agree to give you a hub 5? As far as I'm aware it's on a trial basis only atm and will be offered via email to existing customers.

I have been with them from the beginning and the person who offered it to me wasn't your normal support agent. This was offered on a *yes I will look into it* basis, if this person can't get me one sent then one of the above won't be needed.

Just need advice on the above mate no need to get into a deeper conversation on if I'm going to receive a hub 5 or not.

It isn't a deeper conversation, it's probably worth waiting to see what hub turns up first.

We've got a few network nuts around here but having searched for both of those adapters, I don't think there's anyone here who has used either. If they have then they haven't posted about it.

I've not agreed anything with them yet so no hub will be arriving, I don't want the hub 4 because it only comes with 1gb ports and is useless with Wi-Fi.

Like I have said they offered me the package to stay with them if they won't agree the hub 5 then it won't matter because I will leave. The main point of this topic was for any information on any of those products or something similar, I've asked overclockers but they only sell 10gb cards which are too expensive for this speed upgrade.

I have been waiting for VM to get back they promised a phone call last week it never happened, I have been told the person will phone me tonight between 4-9pm we will see if no phone call then the above cards won't be needed.

Ps

No need for any help with this anymore just got off the phone with them and they can't supply what I asked for so after all these years with this company it's time to try someone else.

Unless the 10Gb card supports NBASE-T (Hint: Intel x710 or better) then 10Gb isn’t going to help you anyway. The problem you have is at present they can’t request a SH5 for you, which is why whoever you spoke to didn’t just order one, so this thread is largely irrelevant as you’re likely leaving based on what you’ve said. Also the extra downlink is also largely pointless if everything at the other end is running 1Gb. If it isn’t, then any of the budget NBASE-T 2.5Gb cards will do, but the first three i225 chipsets have ranged from garbage to poor, that leaves the Realtek stuff as the next budget option, so far it’s actually been not awful, but you’d need to give us a clue about the OS.

I wasn't looking at the 10gb cards at all.

The VM Customer Service Administrator who I have been talking to for the last few weeks was looking into sending me the SH5 because I have been a beta tester before and I was also offered a decent offer for the 1gb service to stay with them, hence the other post regarding changing ISP. I wouldn't accept the offer unless I was sent the SH5 because the SH4 is a piece of crap. The Customer Service Administrator appolgised to me but there is no reason for me to stay with VM anymore because their prices are too much for the services they offer.

There is no point anymore talking about this topic because I don't need the adapters.

Thanks to the-evaluator for the straight answer I was looking for.
