I currently have a GTX 680 and I'm looking for some more GPU power.

Should i buy another 680 or is it a better option to sell it and get a 780 or 780 ti ?

Ideally i want to spend as little as possible...

2 680's are a fair bit better than even a Ti. I had 2 670's before I switched to 2 Ti's and they were more powerful than one. If spending as little as possible is your goal, get another 680. If you buy a 780 you will end up buying another too!

I play with a triple screen resolution of 5760x1080, mostly driving sims but with very high levels of AA which eats up FPS. Currently getting around 80-120 fps with super sampling but want to get that upto around 140fps with no dips below 120fps so i can get the most out of my 120hz monitors.

I was in this situation a while ago and i decided to go for a single 780 after having 680s sli and i don't regret it one bit :)

Ok so the 680s in sli are still very powerful cards and can push higher fps but i found the single 780 to be more consistent in games plus it runs cooler and quieter and less power of course:).

Go for a single 780 Ti

Assuming he gets about £140 for selling a 680, or pays similar for adding another, then effectively it's like saying spend £360 (Ti cost minus 680 sell gain) for less performance, or only spend £140 for more performance.

If it's purely about maximum performance for least amount of cash, adding a second 680 is clearly the best option. If you have money to spend though, get 2 780's!

If you can get a 680 for cheap then go with that.

Just realised you play on a high resolution. Probably best to go with a 780 Ti then.

Get 780ti , then do step up to 6gb version for $90 i believe. I had 680 went to 780 just feels better overall. As for SLI to much headache and VRAM caps etc. 780TI

@ OP, I had a 680 4GB, a 780Ti is near as fast as 2x 670/680's (depends on which games).

I would get a single card for consistancy in all games so Ti then you can always add another down the line but adding further down the line a 3rd 680 is not really an ideal option and you would want 4GB models.

Sell it now before it loses more value when the next cards arrive.

Having owned two 670 gigabyte wind force cards clocked beyond 680 stock speeds, id reccomend a single 780 to start with. Less power used, less heat. I wont say hassle with sli as sli is so boringly reliable. Plug em in and off you go. But then you have the option of bunging in another 780 later. Myself, i dont care about power use, cooling wise i can tame the heat. This is overclockers uk, not greenpeace. We dont do power saving here.:D

I think I would opt for a single card. As people have said, less heat uses less power etc but it avoids any issues with games not liking dual cards. You also have the option of adding another 78x or whatever later on down the line. No issue with vram either.

With 2GB cards at triple screen you run into low FPS issues from a lack of grunt before the memory comes into it. Even with two cards this holds true the mass majority of the time. That said, an overclocked 780/Ti won't be that much slower than 680 SLI at triple screen so I would go this route.
