AMD has truly left the building..

I doubt that is the case...

1. This is OCUK, full of computer enthusiasts that prefer to build their own systems :D

2. Everyone is saving up for AMDs 7970 which will probably sell for more than each of those systems

Maybe being described as a "high performance gaming system" people expect something more than a system with a 5450 graphics card fitted?

Perhaps it could be if you spend another £200 to upgrade the graphics :) There should be a small print.

*Computer in question is not a "high performance gaming system* unless you add in another £200 graphics card. OcUK take no responsibility for 5 FPS in BF3. You have been warned*

Does seem wrong to claim high performance on the stock model when it clearly isn't. I know OCUK will argue that the point is to upgrade them for the performance advertised but your customers probably don't know that.

We have the same question asked every time a gaming system is launched. This is our system model which is very effective. Giving customers the option to select a GFX card to their preference has proven a vastly popular choice over a fixed GFX offering.

Oh I know you do. But don't you think that if you get asked every time then there is clearly a flaw in your advertising? I will admit that the upgrade options are very competitive price wise compared to other companies.

Simply not true. Should state a recommended gpu for actually attaining any performance useful to gaming. The reason it comes up every time is because, unlike your customers, we know when we read BS. Being a popular buy doesn't make it a good one. This sells on the same basis that the purple shirted boys sell their pc's on. High clock speeds with lots of useless cores and lots of ram put with some nice juicy words. Performance in all the areas you don't need. The only reason it's not got a 1TB hard drive in so it has even bigger non-performance boosting numbers is because hard drives are so darn expensive at the moment.

Sure you're a business so you're going to run like one, but don't act surprised when the forum doesn't approve.

sorry for bumping an old thread, but I agree entirely. Its is highly likely that people will buy a PC and then not understand why it can't play games like it was advertised as being able to do. I got here through a forum thread where someone has that very problem. He bought a gaming PC for his son, and sought our advice on what to do about the fact that it can't play games. It as an HD5450. We are all recommending that he buy's an HD7850.

There should be a 'recommended' graphics card, or the performance gain of each graphics card should be briefly explained. It should defiitely say somewhere that the stock card cannot play games. Even the 'purple shirted boys' sell the gaming PC's with HD6670's, which is deliberately low end to squeeze money out of people, but it can at least run games properly.

This needs amendment, otherwise i feel that many unhappy customers will emerge. I have certainly had to help a few on the forums.

Perhaps there should be no graphics card selected as default, and it should prompt the buyer to select one, rather than just having the HD5450 as a default option. Personally I feel that the HD5450 should be removed altogether and the graphics cards start at HD7750 level and go upwards from there. And if there is an HD5450 it should say 'HD5450 512MB (non-gaming graphics card)' or similar.

Or maybe put a section in the description with an overview of the performance and perhaps some FPS readings for each card, in a similar way to how you used to list the settings for guaranteed overclock CPU's or list compatibility.

The best option is to probably have three colours, red, yellow and green or atleast some colour scheme to show low, mid and high performance graphics card when selecting them from the drop down box. It's something very simple to implement and would be very useful for first time customers or those with restricted knowledge on computer components.

If you spend £800 on a pc you'd be stupid to not research parts, especially when you can pick. If you arent going to bother seeing the spec you may aswell just buy an Xbox/ps3.

thats all fine and dandy for those who are clued up ....and its why soem people get conned into buying exteneded gaurantees when the sales of goods act is more than enough

anyway ........... the links should say " from" at the very least ... you can get a gaming system for £650 but the top one clearly isnt without modifications. and also the product is no longer available ;) check your links
