2 cheaper cards or one ?

Title says it all really, my graphics card has been acting up and before it dies completely im gonna order somethin new, i figure its hardly worth rma'ing my card as A) its 2 years old and B) probably only worth 50quid at this stage, Its a gainward geforce 6800gt 256mb. Its a really weird problem, sometimes when i start the comp i get a blank screen then randomly other times it will work :confused:

Anyway should i go for something like
This Card

or go for sli with two of something like
These

Obviously im not being specific to those exact cards but using them as an example of price range and specs so suggestions for cards would be MOST appreciated.

Im running
amd athlon 4000+
1gb corsair ram
asus a8n sli deluxe mobo
Mostly used for gaming and some photoshop/video editing

anyway, ya, ive rambled on way more than i had planned to so ill shut up now

SLI is not 100% efficent and older cards are not half as cheap usually so sli is a top performance thing mostly

Anyone like to venture a suggestion? I was looking at the single card i linked above and also a gainward bliss 7900 512mb silent (I think) it was on the same page as the card above but it seems to have just vanished today or yesterday!?

What's your budget? The x1950pro is better than a 7900gs.

Check the buyer's guide in my sig, but I would have thought BFG 8800 GTS 320MB if you have lots of money, or this Sapphire x1950 Pro would be up your street.

Saying that, the 7900 GS is no slouch.

i was lookin to spend about 120-140 max hopefully, this will probably be a stop-gap card till i build a dx10 system at the end of the summer.

Can i put an ati card in my mobo? i was under the impression that it can only take nvidia cards? or is that only if i want to use sli?

ATi cards work in NVidia mobos, don't worry

All you have to ensure is if the card (and mobo) have PCI Express or AGP slots.
