Apolgies if this has been asked before but I can't find a similar question.
I want to replace my two monitors (2 computers) with a new 24 inch single monitor. I know a KVM would allow this but I need to view the images from the two computers at the same time on the same screen. Is this possible and do I need to buy a certain spec monitor to allow this?

I'm sure this is a dum question but if anyone can advise I'd be grateful

Thanks

Thanks for reply

any reason why you have 2 PC's?

not being funny but why not merge one of them into others. problem solved lol

edit: does your new monitor support 50/50 split PIP?

That would be far too simple! I have two compuetrs to seperate different functions. One is used for general purposes and the other for Amateur radio functions. Even if I did merge the two would I be able to have two seThanks for replyperate programs displayed at the same time? I had never heard of PIP before this post so perhaps that is the way forward?

Thanks Axella

If there even are KVM's that allow this they're going to be crazy expensive.
What you're looking for is a monitor with a Picture in Picture (usually shortened to PIP) mode.

Hope you're not overestimating the size screen real estate, don't forget it's the resolution that counts, not the actual size of the monitor. Most 24" monitors are 1920x1080 nowadays, some are 1920x1200 - either way that only leaves you with 960 horizontal pixels... that's less than you'd get with the good old 1280x1024 resolution.

The only monitor that comes to my mind is the Dell u2410 as the Dell u2412 doesn't support it for some inexplicable reason. I'm sure there are other 24" options though.

Never heard of PIP until you suggested it and yes, I hadn't given much thought to picture size and quality. I have looked at the Dell and I admit to a reluctance to consider Dell due to bad support experiences but it is alos expensive. I will look for other pip products and thanks for your input
