2 copies of 1 game on steam?

Does anyone know if you can add a second copy of a game to your steam account to give to someone?

You can simply gift it to someone when purchasing.

Hmm I'm not sure i won a copy of l4d I'm just wondering if i can just add it to my existing account and give it way as a gift?

Doubt it, but just give the game away instead of adding. All they need is the serial code from the manual.

AFAIK you can't gift the first copy of a game you get, only the second and further copies.

if you mean boxed, give away the key, if you mean digital gift to you, they simply will not be able to - tell them the account of your friend to send it to instead

If you had some halflife games on steam, and then buy the orange box, then duplicate games could be given away to other people, so perhaps if you get a 2nd l4d then because its a duplicate of something you already own it will let you give that away as a gift. I'm not 100% sure though, as its not exactly the same situation.
