i so i bought this monitor yesterday http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-033-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat= from my local pc shop but it has 1 tiny dead pixel that is black on it which is only realy noticeable on white screens and 1 green pixel which is only ever noticable on complete black screens. this doesnt bother me to much but i want opinions on if you lot would take it back or not, but to me im not sure if its worth the effort because its hardly ever noticeable

I'd take it back.
Dead pixels are just NOT acceptable these days.
Thats like buying a new car and finding a fag burn in one of the seat covers
You just wouldnt tollerate it.

It's up to you whether or or not to try and return it as only you know how much it bothers you.

It may be down to goodwill if they would accept it back.

Manufacturers have certain tolerances for LCD screens and there are usally allowed to be a certain number of faulty pixels, or sub pixels, before the screen as a whole is actually considered faulty.

How funny :)

I order an LG E2360 from the rainforest, it had a cluster of about 4 dead pixels on it. Asked to send it back and they said yeah and sent a replacement out. Got the replacement, that had 2 or 3 dead pixels on it. Needed to send that back too. They said yeah, and that they'd pick it up with the other one. They accepted both of them back.

I then bought the same monitor you did as a replacement and mines perfect! Crazy eh? Goes to show it's not necessarily a brand problem, more than likely a batch problem or something.

So yeah, send it back and don't take any crap.

did you contact the manufacture or the place you bought it from?

Place I bought it from. Literally saw it on both monitors the day I got them. I think the manufacturers can be a bit funny about it sometimes and some of them have disclaimers saying 2 or 3 dead pixels will not be enough to warrant a replacement/refund etc.

It's like I said.

Returning something like this is down to the goodwill of the individual retailer.

The big companies usually have quite generous returns policies and there's always the DSR if bought mail order.

It depends on the attitude of your "local PC shop".

That's what I was thinking, my monitor went pop a few days back, and I'm currently shopping around for another. While I like the idea of being able to take a monitor back should it not be pixel-perfect, I don't believe I can demand it should they refuse.

right, i will ask him if its possible next time i pop into his shop within the next few days, hopefully things should go well because he tends to be quite friendly to me, he asks me what games i play and what not and discuss pc related things, until then i think i might try some pixel fixing things that are online

I had what I believe was a stuck sub-pixel on the edge of the screen on my old monitor, I tried many things to revive it, but alas nothing worked. Though really, after I got a new desk and stopped having my face glued to the screen, it was all but unnoticeable.

If the shop you used is part of a chain that has their own customer service line, you could try that should all else fail.

I'd say the rainforest place as you so worded it have the best customer service on the net

I have just had to change an Asus 120Hz monitor over with them because it was every now and then dropping the 120Hz signal, they sent a replacement out and now i'm waiting for them to come pick the faulty one up..

As for the monitor with dead pixels i'd send it back.
