2 Display Port 1 Dual DVI 3 Way Cards

Currently I have one MSI 7850 Frozr III and 3 x Samsung S23A700D in a 3 way setup @120Hz. I'm using catalyst drivers 12.3 (12.4 was even worse).

I have two monitors connected via startech mini display port active adapters and one monitor connected on the dual dvi. Unfortunately the dual dvi screen is tearing and it doesn't matter how I switch the cabling round, for the monitors, the monitor connected via dual dvi always does this. It's not unusable but it's one of those things, that you know it's there, even in windows and just gets annoying. After looking around I found other people having this issue and it seems to be the only solution is to have three connectors all the same type. This seems really odd though when most cards, even the 680s, have 2 of one type of connector and 1 of the other types.

Looking around at upgrades, some of the bespoke 7970's have 4 or more mini display ports but that means buying another active converter or maybe just going the whole hog for a 690 which has 3xdual dvi. Has anyone else had issues with this?
