I had a domain and hosting package from daily.co.uk and am very happy with it for my www.the-pier.co.uk domain.

I now want to add a second domain to my existing hosting package but want to do it right!

The domain is www.bird-cam.co.uk (for those who don't remember my thread from earlier this year I have a camera installed inside a bird box), and I have done the following:

Registered the domain
On my hosting created a new directory \public_html\bird-cam
Setup "Web Forwarding" for www.bird-cam.co.uk to www.the-pier.co.uk/bird-cam
Uploaded a wordpress installation and configured it to create a new set of tables in my existing MySQL db.

This all seems to be well and good but when I go to www.bird-cam.co.uk I can see it loading data from the-pier.co.uk domain where I really want it to say www.bird-cam.co.uk

Does that make sense? Have I done wrong by chosing "Framed Web Forwarding"?

Any help is much appreciated.

Do you have the ability to host more than one domain with your current supplier.
In mine for example, I have the ability to host 5 different domains and I add them via the control panel.

The way you are trying will not work with forwarding.

If I have read it right you have got your the-pier account sorted, then you added a new directory called bird-cam.

If I have got that right, you will have to view the-pier.co.uk/bird-cam to see the content.

Thats probably as clear as mud, but ask your host how you create a 2nd domain on your hosting.

As an aside, what control panel are you using (and which host) - may help to know so we can then go through step by step how to do it :)

Current provider can add domain mapping for 20+VAT pa or upgrade to the business package to get the free domain mapping.

Looks like a change in provider may be required! Thanks for all the feedback

So if you are on the basic package at daily.co.uk, you will be paying an extra 2 quid (ish) a month per extra domain you add.

Take a look through these forums - there are a lot of popular hosts talked about that will do multi domain hosting for that price.

Vidahost, Tsohost etc are the ones I remember off the top of my head (but not saying use them as I never have, they just seem popular!)

Cheers

Yeah I was on the "home" package.

I have now jumped to the tsohost standard package and will migrate my other hosting across when they come up for renewal.
