Just after some advice really...

I have just built a new system and installed windows 8 on an ssd.

I have some old hard drives that I connected up to transfer the data onto a new 1tb hard drive. The PC now only works if only the ssd is plugged in. If I plug in the 1tb drive, windows loads but on the desktop most of my programs (antivirus etc) fail to load and as soon as you click something it freezes.

I can't work out what the issue boils down to. It is a very fresh install (ie today) and I have been through the bios to see if anything might be configured incorrectly.

Help please?!

When you plug in the 1TB drive is it still booting off the SSD?

Sounds like it's booting off an old hard drive and spazzing out due to it being a different system.

Randomly fixed itself this morning.

I had built my new PC and just plugged in my old windows hd. Experiencing issues I then reinstalled windows.

It was booting off the ssd ok, not entirely sure why it wasn't working yesterday but is today. At least it's sorted, thanks!!

IF you have just the SSD plugged in, does it boot ok and work?

If not, then I'd format and start again. Only have the SSD connected for the Windows install.

-Is everything on C: ?
