Righto gents,

Question for you. I've been struggling with wireless penetration in the house for ages, ideally I would buy some Homeplugs or run some cabling to the effect area but at the moment both are out of the question (at least for a couple of months, skint).

What I do have are 2 routers, one old and one I was given recently. The newer Belkin thing gives a fantastic wireless signal (well good enough) throughout the house but the DSL sync speed is bad at about 1.8-2mbit. I do have a poor line and live about 6.5km from the exchange but it still bad even for those distances.

The old Netgear DG834N is appauling for wireless coverage but gets me closer to 4mbit DSL connection.

Is it possible to use the ADSL modem side of the netgear and the rest of the features on the Belkin ?

Any info gratefully received otherwise I'll be dusting off my CC and going the Homeplug route :D

Cheers.
Jon.

can you make the Belkin one in to a wireless access point?

Thanks, I'll have to have a poke around the menu's, I'm not a fan of Belkin stuff but if it saves me money....

it one of these Belkin Play N600 its getting on for top of the range but the menu's seem to be lacking options :(

It is defintly running a lot slow, test sites come about at about 1.8mbit and when I downloaded I get rates of about 170-200kbps.

A quick test on Speedtest.net using the same server each time.

Now the difference isn't as big as I thought so it looks like I also have an issue with my line too, which is an annoying coincedence.

I'll contact the help line which as usual will be a waste of time, so I'll end up writting a letter the to highup. Thanks for the idea's and replys.

Cheers guys ;)

ps. here is a screenie from a while back I found ....
