2 factor authentication in Gmail & Hotmail

I've been through a lot of my online accounts and set-up two factor authentication recently. I have a main Gmail account that I use, and I use this to manage my Hotmail account too. It is added as a POP3 account in Gmail.

So, I have set-up 2FA on my Hotmail account, which means that within Gmail now it can't authenticate properly. How do I set this up?

I would think that somewhere in the Hotmail site there should be a way to create an app password like you can in Gmail for this scenario. Once you've created the app password you'd use that in the Gmail settings for POP access as that new app password would replace your normal password for this purpose.
