Hi all,

I am introducing my son to PC gaming and have built him a simple box of his own. Due to space, he will need to use the same monitor as me (When I'm not on it!!)

Any thoughts how best to configure this. I gather KVMs can cause some Keyboard lag?

If necessary I'll look into sharing a wireless keyboard / mouse but wasn't sure of my options for this.

If you need to share the peripherals and monitor then a KVM would be the main solution.

Input latency is a mixed story - with USB ones and a decent brand you shouldn't notice any but some cheaper ones and randomly some higher end ones can suffer from it.

If the monitor has 2 (or more) source inputs that are suitable for the resolution and refresh rate required you could simply switch between them on the monitor and then use something like the Aten US224.

if you are using the Dell u2412 i would just use one with display port the other DVI and buy a cheap keybaord and mouse for your son, then he could just put to one side when not in use
