Hello,

I have a 40 gig MP3 player already, but it is just to big and bulky and so I am looking for a solid state memory MP3 player that is a minimum of 2 gig.

I am more interested sound quality and I am looking for a price of £90 max.

What is the best MP3 player I can get for this.

So far the best I can see is the Creative ZEN V Plus 2GB MP3 Player.

what do you think?

I could really do with some links to reviews or some information from any audiophiles in regards to quality of sound for a player

I keep hearing that the Creative players tend to have issues, such as needing to be reset often and also the screen malfunctioning (which I have experienced with my larger Zen).

Has anyone else experienced these problems and again can anyone recommend me a player that offers 'THE BEST' sound quality for a player less than £100.

I am finding it VERY difficult to get any comparitive results and it is difficult to go off reviewers who use words like 'great sound quality' on all there reviews.

Please help!!

There is issues with any brand, look at all the issues with Ipods just as they go out of warrenty.

I had a Zen V+ Arrive with a bad screen, could not use, read about bad batch made in Aug that year, got it replaced no issue.

I have a ZV:M 30GB no issues, also gave mum a Nano + 1GB no issues.

They can/do freeze, normally your files are the cause, least you can press a pin in a reset and not wait on battery going flat.

I have a Sony NWE405 (512MB) and it's awesome. Great build quality, nice sound, and most of all excellent battery life. I'd imagine the newer models are even better. Flash MP3 players for the win imho.

Thanks for the advice, but I decided that non of the cheaper players are really what I was looking for.

They don't offer top sound and they don't offer durability.

So I have doubled the price and doubled the storage and opted for the Cowon iAudio 7 instead as the reviews of it just put it way above the rest (Although supposedly Creative produce the best audio sound, which I feel is debatable).

If someone is looking through this post for a decent cheap MP3 player then I can only recommend Creative for a cheaper player.

The Zen Stone and a little further up the market the Zen V are easily the best of the cheapest players.

I do think that they are overpriced though considering there inherent problems and unreliability.

I will post a little review of my Cowon iAudio 7 when it arrives.

Flash MP3 players for the win imho.

Totally agree!!

I already have a 40 gig Zen that is just to bulky.

I only need it for a trip to work and back and have no necessity to watch movies on the player. I ONLY want it for sound!

Considering it needs no software and can be plugged into other USB devices it isn't really necessary to have any more than 4gig for me anyway.

I am happy to change around my mp3's and shall now start ripping my CD's onto it using FLAC format.
