2 graphics cards dead?

I have 2 desktop computers both with dead GPU's and both worked fine when last used. They have been sitting in storage for sometime.

I fired the first one up no signal on monitor, exact same issue on the other computer.

I changed the monitors over thinking that maybe resolution wasn't supported but same issue. The onboard graphics work fine but the the Graphics cards have mysteriously died after sitting in storage??? it makes no logical sense. Both were fine when last used.

Any ideas?

Whats your max refresh rate on your monitor? It could be the the GPU's are pushing a higher refresh rate than the monitor can handle causing them not to display.

The cable had no issues as I've always used that monitor and cable when working on PC's I normally use the VGA. I remember this monitor working with those video cards. I think maybe removing the CMOS battery and doing a reset might fix the issue as its the only thing that makes sense as both have been in storage for about a year.

Maybe the cards have a bit of creep, especially if the systems have had some crazy swings in temperature. Try reseating the graphics cards.

my gtx 980mjust died aswell sceen flikkerd a few times now no display stripped all card no damage t it nothing blown up but still no luck.

I don't understand how mine died in storage not one but two, it seems very strange. Onboard graphics is fine. I'll have to find the service manual for these cards. It could be that I'm missing something like a reset or something. The only other thing it could have been is static in the air from the radio transmitter near by but unlikely...

Bear in mind no signal on monitor doesn't necessarily mean dead GPU, even if onboard video is working. Have you checked in bios to make sure it is set to use PCI-E gfx?
Could also be a power issue, do you have a decent PSU with the 6/8pin cables connected to GPUs?
