Coming back home from Uni this Thursday and i've got a 2 hour changeover with my buses in London. Therefore does anyone know of anything interesting to do around Victoria Coach Station? Got a 9 hour journey with no books or magazines so I want something to disperse the boredom.

Anyone know of any cafes or cinemas nearby?

There's a shopping centre just above Victoria train station (whihc is about 5 or 6 minutes walk away from the coach station. You can have some food / a coffee and buy your magazines. Not sure about cinemas, but you'd be cutting it close by planning to see something in 2hrs. There are a couple of pubs in Victoria train as well, so if beer is your thing you can get as trashed as you feel is appropriate :) Maybe a couple of drinks would help you sleep on your second leg?

victoria coach station is a small walk to the underground, and the underground gets you anywhere in central london in <20mins.

if its daytime go explore! have you been to london before? visit trafalgar square, houses of parliament, buckingham palace is just round the corner, and easy walk too...

loads to do!

You are.. using the COACH for this journey? Geez do yourself a favour and get a train, twice as comfortable and half the time.

Coaches serve two purposes:

a) To take Children on school trips
b) To transport old people on holiday

... And to take people who can't afford the £60 - £80 train tickets in and out of London.

Aren't you an undergraduate student? Where do you get the money for London train tickets from?

By booking in advance. Last went to London last Sunday. In First Class. For 25 quid.

c) To provide cheaper transport than the train.

I'll have a look into trains and see how they compare price wise as i've not booked the coach tickets yet. Cheers for the suggestions so far, the pub is looking an attractive prospect :p

Doesn't do him much good, travelling in 2 days time and on a weekday though, does it?

It's the end of term - it's not suddenly jumped up and made him think 'My god! I need to book travel!'. He's known the date he's leaving for weeks perhaps even months :p

Pragmatism > idealism ;)

Nope, I decided tonight. Mainly for summer work related reasons.

its not a million miles away. besides which there are a lot of nicer pubs in the victoria area than a wetherspoons anyway ;)

True ;).. though the OP sounds like he is on a budget. Coaching it and all.. weatherspoons all the way :D Burger and beer under a fiver mm mm

Have to agree with the above, let one beer lead to another but remember to set an alarm on your phone so you dont miss the bus!

2 hours in a london pub also bumps the price up though, so there wouldnt be oh so much difference between 2hours in pub then coach than 0 hours in pub and train, you would be paying for getting home quicker and comfier.

There's a weatherspoons in Victoria station. This means beer and a burger for a fiver :) Plus drinks at under £2.

And anyway, even at an expensive £4-per-pint pub, are you really going to neck £50 worth of drinks in 2 hours?!

no, I didnt say that, i specified there would infact be a price difference still, but its not exactly steep anymore due to the fact you save x amount of time and travel comfier.

£60-£80 for train journey

Whereas coach = £20-£30(possibly more?) + ~£15(pub)+£5(drink and magazine for bus = £40-£50

So for £20-£30 more or so it may be possible for the op to travel comfier, and a lot quicker by train. I know I would definately take the train option, after having travelled to london by train and by coach, train was £60 and coach was £15, would never EVER travel coach again, uncomfy seats, not very roomy, cant walk about, poor toilets, crammed, sweaty, not enough leg room.
Train - faster, had plug socket and table.. could stretch legs..etc.
