Hello

So i picked up a TV earlier in the year, from the MM actually, and its been ace. Fairly quickly though it developed an issue.

Its a Toshiba Regza 37XV635DB, and when turned on each day, greets me with the following image (sorry for the quality, im travelling atm and cant get a better one since it's back home)

This is obviously not good, but if i just leave it, over about 10-15 minutes to picture returns to normal, eventually giving me the crisp image it should.

What on earth? I cant really budget replacing it atm, and i dont mind turning it on a little while before im ready to watch something, but im concerned it will eventually explode. It doesnt seem to be getting any worse though.

Is it worth repairing?

Secondly, my brother in law has been looking at a Bose system for his TV. Im aware of its overpriced status so i told him id look for alternatives. What he likes about it though is the form factor. They dont have much space in their apartment, plus a 2 year old, and he's not keen on wireless speakers. What kind of options do we have? Budget isnt important but nothing astronomical, lets say mid range.

Cheers

I mean if the repair is going to cost a couple of hundred I will leave it. I only paid 180 for it, I just can't afford to replace that ATM. If it was 50 quid I'd find the money.

It developed over two days really. I noticed some lines, replaced the hdmi cables and it cleared, although now I know replacing the cables did nothing, it just had time to warm up while I was changing them. Then one day it was just really bad. Since it went bad it's always taken 15 mins, not gotten any worse through heavy usage.

Thanks guys, I have a maplin in town so I'll try taking a look. This will be a first for me! I assume I need to freshen up on how to solder, been 12 years since I last did it :p
