2 inputs to Dell 2407 problem

ok I have my dell 2407

connected to 2 dvi monitors.

thought I would use my PS3 on it as well via a hdmi to dvi cable.

soooooo

looking around I found a DVI splitter cable - easy I thought - use 1 from the ps3 to it and the other to the monitor.

When connecting the splitter cable to the monitor - then the pc to it it just enters power save mode!
thats without connecting the PS3

how come ?

I think that cable is for one source to two displays not the other way around. A DVI Switch is what you need, and I have one for the exact same reason as you and it works great

cant you connect your ps3 via the component input ?

ive got

pc --------- dvi
pc --------- vga
xbox360 --- component

and they all work fine

the lead can be had online for less than £7

No 1080p support over Component on the 2407

At least that's why I don't use it.
