Hi all,

Got 2 issues with the mk4 golf that I need to get sorted:

1) when slightly turning to the left to full left lock is sounds like someone is running their finger around the top of a crystal glass. Stops if you apply pressure to the brakes. Haven't had time to check yet but its obviously the brakes, but can't decide which side its coming from.

What should I be looking for on Sunday?

2) I think the drivers front window has become detached from the mechanism. Upon pressing the button down it clunks and you can hear the motor going down but the window stays still, press the button up and you can hear it move up and clunk on the glass. Anyone have a link to a detailed video/guide on removing the door and fixing it.

Removing interiors never goes well, always end up breaking something :(

The window regulator is a fairly easy fix and will take no more than 30 mins, TPS sell a window repair kit for about £35-£40 and isn't too difficult to fit.

Number one I would hazard a guess at the brake flexi hose or low pressure/fluid. You turn left, the hose is stretched/pulled and there's not enough pressure to keep the piston out so pad becomes loose and moves as your driving. Applying brakes restores enough pressure.

Just a guess though

Thanks for the feedback, i'll hopefully find time to day to check it out after I've managed to find my mum a 50th bday present :)
