2 Memory Sticks gone at once?

This morning I booted up my computer to be faced with nothing, no beeps or anything, I first reset the boise, to no avil then I removed all four sticks of RAm and placed them back one at a time, it worked with the first two (my newer 2GB sticks( but when I put either of the other two sticks in the computer refused to boot, is it possible they are both dead or are the blue slots on my motherboard knackered?
I'm trying to work out if it's worth replacing them or just sticking with 4GB until I get a new computer late next year as DDR2 is getting expensive now so don't want to waste the cash if it's the mobo slots.

Does the newer ram work in the blue slots?

Most ram these day has lifetime warranty.

Thats a good point I'll give it a go in the morning, guess that would answer my question. TBH if it is dead I'm happy enough with how long it's lasted (must be about 4-5 years) and I'll just buy some more.

Anyway, take out all the sticks, and then try booting up with one stick in the first slot, that will identify any faulty ram sticks

if they all boot up fine in slot one, start with slot 2, etc etc

and you will determine what ram/slots are faulty

it is a massive PITA, but i guess thats the only way to do it

DDR2 Is around £50 ~ for 4gb - if it is the ram.

If your going to upgrade next year then it might be worth sticking with 4gb, unless you need 8gb for the work you do.
