You sure you configured it correctly in windows etc.? Not sure haven't tried one myself but this thing works as a USB addon:

If you looking for faster response time etc. get a cheap 2 port graphics card if you just want to add another display not for gaming for e.g.

What graphics card do you have? There needs to be 2 outputs on the card.

Are you using onboard or a gfx card?
Do you have a VGA connection also?
