2 motherboard PC ?

I was also thinking about merging two mid atx cases together. Have anybody tried it or seen it before? I just want something relatively cheap. One mobo is kickass, one kickass old

Something nice and simple would be nice, so the front wont look horribly bad when joined.

They are for about 20 quid each, so would not be so expensive.

Position of this thing would be preferably horizontal, so wouldnt worry about it's highness. I was also thinking about some bigass server rack, like 21" or so, but their prices are just ridiculous.. :(

Why would you want to do this?

I really can't see any advantage over having two cases side-by-side.

If you're wanting to save space then full size ATX isn't a good starting place.

Basically what I want to do is to stuff one kickass 4 core 3.4ghz 16gig ram mobo and slot 1 mobo, with all the things like MFMs, ISAs, SCSI etc. I was thinking about making them dependable as well, eg. making a simple network inside of them so i can extract and save data from/to MFM hdd from the windows 7 level or make possible switching each other on. Aim is to combine an ultimate service tool with gaming pc which will be capable of troubleshooting even the oldest systems available. Told you, I'm a freak :D:D:D

Just imagine playing Fallout 4 while getting data from an old-ass tape memory haahhaha

Second edit: By horizontal pos I mean that one case would be on the top of another and then lying down. Just like a massive server rackmount. -> [||||||||][||||||||]

I got a Thermaltake Mozart TX - That takes a fullsize ATX and an ITX
Right now, its empry and I have put the parts into seperate cases, but I will be putting them back very soon.
I used a KVM to select between the two and it worked nearly perfectly.

I had an X9 a few months back for about an hour.

It was just too big for my needs, I had to send it back, however, it was a seroiusly big sod for sure, but it did not allow me to use 2 Motherboards. unless I missed something of course?

No you'd need to get two and stack them ;) But they do look smart and not just one computer dumped on top of another.

LOL yeah, that was what got me to buy one, btu when it actully came, I was just blown away by how ruddy big it was!

The height and width are fine, but the length, front to back, is way more thah necessary... I have limited spce where I have setup my living room PC and it would be sticking out a foot and some, plus eating into my leg space and that was such a shame.

What really gets on my goat now, is that I was so close to putting it into the corner of the room and having cables come to me at the desk, but I decided agaisnt it...
The thing is, that now, I am doing that very same thing with my server PC, having that in the corner, plus my main PC here, and a KVM to select the unit used.

No, I think the Core X9 is just a tad too much for my current situation... We are looking for a bungalow to live in however and who knows if I will ever get another, but I doubt I will. I still have a Mozart TX that I have setup and then pulled down because I cannot decide on that either as my main systems case, but in my LAN room, it looks pure sexy

What about putting two Antec One Cases together? (quick photoshop here)

Core X9 looks like a fridge, which I'm not really into

Well I say do a fully custom case design.

Design a nice wide case that holds a motherboard on each side and build a single, custom watercooling look between the 2 systems. You'd only need 1 PSU because the older system won't have much of a draw.
