Annoyingly my OCD is getting the better of me! So after only 13k miles, the front tyres on my A4 quattro dag dag are shot. They were Conti sport contact 3s and I always found them to be noisy and not that great. Surprised they've worn this quickly as well.
So over the weekend I rotated the rear tyres, which are only 1/4 worn to the front, and today I had the rear tyres replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport 3s.
So now I have a car with full tread on the back (Michelins) and 3/4 tread on the front (Conti) . The contis on the front are still noisy so I'm thinking:
- do I rotate again and get the new, quieter tyres up front and probably get another 10K miles out the Contis on the back
OR
- put up with the noise, kill the Contis on the front in short order, then rotate the Michelins to the front, replacing the dead Contis on the back?
What would you do? I'm within tolerance on the difference in tread depth front and rear so no problems with transmission wind up - just wanted to save money and have a decent handling car.
