its sold? sure someone has asked to take it.

Ah, ofcourse - please ignore that link then.

However, if the OP is looking at setting 8800GTS 320MB or 640MB, I would suggest spending a bit more and getting a 8800 GTS 512MB, 9800GTX(+) or GTS 250 instead. Second-hand they don't cost much more - and are a good deal better.

I'd be smashing down the door of that guy with the £200 base unit.

pressure him into finding a box and posting it.

its the link in post 11, that machine is worth that money all day long.

send him a cardboard box yourself, anything.

lol i have now asked him...Thing is would that be better than a Phenom 9950+8800gts+2gb by a lot though?

As stulid shows, the CPU will be much better in games, it also overclocks extremely well. The extra 2GB of RAM is basically worth £50 new and will provide much better performance in windows 7.

As for the graphics card, what is the type of 8800GTS you are planning to get? there is a big difference between the 320/640MB versions (G80 core) and the 512MB version (G92 core).

Also bear in mind that that e8400 system comes with an aftermarked CPU cooler, a nice X-Fi sound card (which is basically the same as this one) and really fast HDD. Well worth the extra money IMHO.

the 320mb andi....Thanks for that stulid i will check it out....
Yeh it does look really good :)
I have contacted him so :/
The only thing is i dont want it to be outdated soon and me have to go and spend money on a new system where as the AMD option means i can go for am3 if i want in the future...hmm decisions decisions....

Ah, if its the 320MB version, then the 4850 is a much faster graphics card. If you look at this review, the old 8800GTS can't even keep up with the 8800GT (which is itself slower than the 4850).

This is true, if you go for an AM2+ board then you have the option to upgrade to something as fast as a Phenom II Hex core in future (though most likely not bulldozer as they may not preserve DDR2/AM2+ support). However, a 775 system with an E8400 still has upgrade potential - the Q9550 and Q9650 are still very fast CPUs that perform as well as top-end Phenom II Quad cores and overclock very well indeed.

Yeh i know :/
Yeh thats what i was thinking.......yeh but q9550 etc will still be old tech :/....I may just stick with AMD because i only really want it for Company of Heroes which will run on the 790gx wont it? I cant be bothered with cod etc as i barely play the MW2 on ps3 lol

if i remember company of heroes, it had some fancy graphical effects, wonder if its still to much for a onboard chip?
