2 out of 4 dimms work

I thought 16 would be better than 8 so i got two of these [https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-064-PA&tool=3]

to go with this mobo http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-202-MS

However, when I put 4 sticks of RAM in, PC doesn't power past bios (keeps restarting). If I use 2 sticks and use the slots furthest away from the CPU only then, does the PC work.

Help please

Do all memory sticks work individually, also check for a latest BIOS update.

Updated BIOS, still doesn't accept RAM in DIMM1 & DIMM2.
I tested all the RAM sticks individually, they all work.

What OS do you have?

When I upgraded to 16GB, I had to also install 64bit windows as 32bit maxes out with 8GB. It still booted up for me though, still something to consider?

Using Windows 7 64Bit.
I think I may have to do a fresh install, previously I had 2 sticks of DDR2.
I have just replaced the mobo, CPU and RAM (DDR3). I didn't do a new install of OS, it just loaded into Windows as I powered up (after using only 2 RAM sticks).

Using MSI Civetta Promo Cooler (came free with the mobo)
Should I use the Intel stock cooler instead?

Cooler should be better than stock. What is your CPU?

That's not the reason I asked.

Over tightening some CPU coolers can cause problems with the RAM slots.

As the OP's CPU cooler is a push pin type it shouldn't be a problem.

OP, Have you had a look to see if any pins are damaged in the CPU socket?

Given the motherboard it's a Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge system.

You may need to increase the VCCSA (IMC/System Agent) and/or VCCIO (VTT/QPI) voltage a touch with 4 sticks of RAM.

If all ram work individualy then it is a motherboard problem
I had one that din not run slot 4 with module 3 pesent
So motherboard looks problematic and the fault

I had this on a machine I built worked fine with 8G but as soon as I put 16Gb in wouldn't boot.

If I remember correctly its a setting in the bios. Think I also cleared the Cmos and it worked. clear that and reset bios to default settings and try again.

That'll be your problem, you need to format the HDD and do a fresh install of O.S if you've changed Mobtherboard.

Have you tried increasing the voltage when using all 4 sticks.
