so i have two PC's and an iphone 4. 1 pc at work, other at home. I have my library at home, and i want to be able to sync everything at both sites, so i can keep things up to date. i know i have to have the music library on both PC's so things wont get removed, apart from moving things using an eHDD, what program can i use to pull the songs and apps to the work PC?

I think MediaMonkey, Winamp and one or two other apps can add and remove music from your iPhone. Plus it avoids the whole "this iPhone is synced with another library" crap.

Why the **** iTunes is like this is beyond me.

Copyright infringement I'm guessing. Apple can't sell songs on itunes and then let people upload them and share them amongst their friends, they'd get completely screwed by the record companies.

Exactly right. iTunes used to allow you to get music off iPods, but it was phased out a fair while back. Apple are in the music industry's pocket - same reason why there's Bluetooth file transfers. They can't be seen to be making it too easy to share music.

In fairness they make no effort whatsoever to stop the third party apps making it possible - they just can't offer the functionality themselves.
