I've got two PC's hard wired to my Belkin router, which is connected to a 8mb UK-Online ADSL connection. PC1. has the spec as in my sig. and PC2. is about two years older socket A athlon spec etc.

When downlaoding a 730MB file from the same source at the same time PC2. is downlaoding it faster then PC1. I would have expected them to be the same or PC1. to be faster?

PC1. 15% faster.

Any ideas?

Also when i run the adsl speed test, im getting a result equivelent of an equivelent connection of 4MB. Am i being ripped of by UK Online or are my settings screwed?

what is running (internet wise) on pc1 and pc2.
also you cant moan about getting 2mbp+ really as most people within the UK can only get 512-1mbp's. but you could speak to ukonline see if there are any problems with your connection (which usually comes back - no probably :p)

PC1. Has a few internet pages open. But i did not think that would slow it down. Will try switching them off.

Agreed im lucky with 8Meg but when its only working at 50% thats not so good.

UKonline dont do "8mb" they do "up to 8mb" ;) Getting 4mb is probably becuase of the length/quality of your line. What are your connection stats? Noise margin? Attenuation? etc. What speed are you connecting at?

As for your PC's downloading at different speeds, its probably something to do with whats running on the slower PC, like a rubbish firewall etc.
