I need a fan with the 2 pin connection as pictured below (Connection C required)

I bought a fan recently but it was the same as connection D pictured

Can i get an adapter or is there a certain name for the connection C that i require?

Many thanks

C, which is the same type as 3- and 4-pin fan connectors, are usually just referred to as Molex connectors. So the one pictured would be a "2-pin female molex connector".

I think they have a more specific name, like "molex small" or something in that order, but barely anyone ever use that.

If you are looking for them, you simply need to look at the connector to make sure its the same type.

Edit: Apparently, according to Molex themselves, they are called "KK 254".

do you think a 3 pin connector will work instead?

i have looked all over but no site seem to show the connector in the picture, i'll try searching for the name you have given and see if anything pops up

Can you not just brute force the connector into the socket?

Or cut some of the plastic off the socket to expose the pins so it can be forced on.

the pins are to thick to do that unfortunately, i suppose i could cut the connector off the old fan

Just wondered about buying the right part for the job really

Connector D is a JST XHP-2 which uses terminals which are quite different from the Molex 6471 series connectors and their associated terminals. Extracting the terminals from the JST and trying to put them in a molex won't work.

From memory the connector pitch is the same but for this life of me I can't recall if they are designed for the same pin diameter.

I'm pretty sure that shoving the JST connector onto a bare header will work just fine but it'll not fit to well in a female molex fan connector.

It could also be that your connector isnt D at all and is in fact the similarly looking PHR-2 which is also JST and is common on graphics cards. This connector system has a different pin pitch (2mm I think) will not fit standard 0.1" pitch headers or connectors.

I worked in the connector industry for 15 years and have collected several versions of each type in my parts bins for hobby use.
