Hi there, I'm having some issues with my PC which have me quite worried at this point and would appreciate any help.
My first problem is that a lot of the time when I boot my PC it doesn't fully boot, the fans are going, the lights are on but theres a louder 'whirring' coming from the dvd drive and intermittent 'clicks' while the lights on my keyboard flash. I have to (sometimes repeatedly) press the power button to shut it off to start it again. When I manage to boot to windows after this, programs load slower and games run in slow motion with crackling audio and I have to shut down and hope for a 'clean' boot to fix this. This has been happening for a while and I guess it's a hardware issue, power supply/mobo/both? I've tried updating bios and changing the cables on my PSU but to no avail. Any ideas, or should I go ahead and get a new psu and mobo?
On to my second problem. Last night I was downloading a rather large file at full speed (450kbps for me) and after about 100 or so Mb's my connection drops, so I think 'just a router issue' and head to reset it. No use. Unplugging/replugging the usb wireless adapter didn't work either and didn't register that it was unplugged. Through some mild investigation work I figured it's probably an issue with the USB ports as I unplugged my USB mouse and when I plugged it back in, it didn't work (the lights where on however). I have to restart my pc with the devices plugged in for them to work. The mouse works fine until unplugged and the internet stays on if I'm not downloading, but when I do, it soon goes off. About 2/3 nights ago I downloaded a large file (3gigs or so) without any issues.
I'm thinking some hardware has fried, but just in case there is a much simpler solution I was wondering if anyone could help me out?
Would me much appreciated, thanks in advance!
Andy
