Hi, I ordered the laptop without an OS installed and I put vista home edition 32bit on myself. The problems I'm facing are:

1) When I try installing the webcam etc it says device was not found.

2) I can't seem to connect to the internet and I think the problem is that the TCP/IP v4 and v6 are not installed. When I try and install them though there is no network protocol on the list to install.

Sorry can't help, but the more and more I read about the problems the more I don't want to buy one of these! unfortunately the lack of reviews is not helping.

I hope someone will help you soon mate

Both of those are software issues and I wouldn't think anything to do with the laptop itself?

In regards to the webcam do you have the correct Vista 32bit drivers for it or are you trying to use XP drivers?

The networking issue is easily solved as you can add TCP/IP as a protocol to the network adapter through windows network manager. Again did you install the correct Vista 32bit drivers and not XP drivers?

Hi Shaun, what problems are these most people seem to be very happy! He decided to order a laptop with no OS and has come across some basic software issues it seems, nothing to do with the hardware.

Other than mine arriving without a wireless card (which they sent in the post and I installed in about 5 mins) I haven't had any problems at all. Awesome laptop...

There's nothing wrong with the laptop at all, it's great. It's just I decided to install vista myself and as a result the webcam wasn't installed.

Also, the internet problem was my uni network provider, nothing to do with the laptop again. It was working the following day.

The only 'problem' I've had with my Ultima Mobile is a dead pixel (bright green, of all colours).
If anyone knows a effective fix for this, I will be very thankful.

If the pixel is glowing green then it is a 'lazy' pixel, not dead. Try rubbing the screen with a soft cloth around the area of the pixel. (be careful not to apply to much pressure). Sounds crazy, but I had the same problem on a Sony Vaio a couple of years back and rubbing it fixed it.

You can also download a very small app that rapidly changes the pixel colour which left running for 12-24 hours can often kick the lazy pixel into life.
