Hi,

Currently in the process of replacing my main rig and re-incarnating the old gear as a file/tv server/HTPC. Could you spec me psu's for both please? I currently have an X-Pro 350w (which i think im probably currently pushing past its limits so needs replacing)

File Server/TV Server/HTPC -

Motherboard - Gigabyte 7n400 Pro 2 Rev2
CPU - AMD 2500 Mobile (Overclocked to 2.2ghz)
GFX - PNY 6600GT (AGP)
Ram - 4x512mb Crucial Dual Channel Ram
TV Card - Compro T200 Pro
DVD-RW - 1x
HDD's -
1 x 120gb SATA
1 x 500gb IDE
1 x 300gb IDE
2 x 160gb IDE

New Main Rig -

Motherboard - Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe
CPU -AMD X2 5200
GFX - More Than Likely 8800GT PCI-E
Ram - 2x1024mb Dual Channel Ram
DVD-RW - 1x
HDD - 250gb SATA

Would it be possible to use my current x-pro in my new main rig or would i be risking under powering the system?

Thanks, Russ

For your file server I would get an Antec Earthwatts 380W. 80+ Energy efficient. I use one which folds with 2gb ram, X2 6000+ overclocked 3x500gb drives and it uses 190W.

For your main rig, You WILL need a new PSU. Recommend the Corsair 520HX (Modular too!)

Yeah, i was planning on getting a new PSU for my new rig, i will look into the 520hx, its been a while since ive done any upgrades to my computer, what exactly is a modular psu?

Do you think it would be possible to keep on using my xpro 350 in my file server?

Thanks for taking the time to reply
