2 Questions about buying new memory

1: Can you mix up brands at all? For example if someone had 2gb of DDR2 677mhz of some random brand, then bought another 1gb of corsair XMS 667 mhz, would it work at all?

2: Does adding more memory take up more power? if so is it a lot of very little?

1. Can mix RAM but its recommended that you try and get the same..
2. Not too much to be honest with you

I'm sure its only about 20W per stick. Have a look here and try it with 1 stick and then 2 sticks and it should tell you how much power a module consumes:

EDIT: Just tested my system with 1 stick of DDR2 on that calc. and then 2 sticks:

1 Stick = 354W
2 Stick = 359W
3 Stick = 364W
4 Stick = 369W

And so on...

Of course full system wattage at peak etc.
