hi guys,

got a couple of microsoft word questions i could do with answering :)

firstly, when i print to pdf (from word 2007 to acrobat pro 8) any images which are on the page (the bare minimum being a company logo) get heavily degraded, i have tried with gifs, jpgs and pngs but the version of it which results in the pdf is abysmal, the text always look great, but images are aweful... anyone know a way to remedy this?

secondly, if i embed an excel spreadsheet into word, how do i hide the standard excel grid?

many thanks :)

i've sorted the grid (its quite an obvious option in the new "ribbon")

with the pdf image quality, i have dediced that the problem lies with word, for now i am printing the pdf, then opening it in illustrator and swapping out the bad image for a crisp vector version, as a point on interest, the bad image does not select in illustrator as one element, but as many horizontal strips... maybe this could help someone pinpoint the problem?

i just swapped the image for a 300dpi verison, absolutely crisp-as-you-like image and when converted to pdf, looks like i've blew up a 20px x 20px icon or summat!!

jeez its frustrating, two peices of expensive software and i cant create something as widely used as a pdf properly :(

c'mon guys, surely this is a megga common problem since pdf is the standard for emailing documents? doesnt everyone print from word? and doesnt every decent word doc have an image (at least a logo) embedded?

if i use the original vector form of the logo and switch it out in illustrator, the file ends up about 10 times bigger than the word doc... and it takes time and is innefficient, i need to know how to do it proppa like :D:(
