2 rads overkill for CPU

Would 2 radiators be overkill for cooling just the CPU or can it be justified ?

I may be wrong but I think there is a point when adding more fans/radiators etc just dont add much to performance/cooling, maybe making things worse by adding noise of few extra fans when not required :confused:

maybe someone whose added an extra rad can shed more light

What size rads and what CPU - 2x120mm say wouldn't be overkill for say a 4770k but 2x360 would be silly to cool say a 65watt tdp amd.

Would be a 240mm in the top of the Corsair 540 and a 360 in the front cooling a 4770k at 4.80GHZ.

Nothing wrong in my opinion. Could probably use the rads passively at that point.

I had two 480mm covering my 3820 for 6 months before I finally included my GPUs.

Allows you to expand the loop at a later date. As it is you'll get slightly lower temps (talking about a few degrees at best)

Think i'm gonna have to agree with this

can run my system passive with 1.44v on the cpu and 1.35v on the gpu, quite a strange experience to hear nothing but pump at idle and psu fan at load.

Overkill on rads and passive fans is the way to go... If you have the space why not use it
