Hi there, I need some help installing some new ram,

AS Rock 990FX Extreme 3 motherboard

old ram - corsair vengance 8gb (2x4gb) ddr3 1600mhz cmz4gx3m1a1600c9

new ram - Hyper Fury 16gb (2x8gb) ddr3 1866mhz

Ive tested booting the pc with 1 ram stick installed and it loads fine, and ive tested all the ram slots on motherboard which all work fine,
but when i try to start pc with both ram sticks in the screen stays black

dram voltage 1.585

the ram with the slower(higher) timing need to go in ram slots 2 and 4, then the faster ram will be slowed down to run at the lower speeds and you should be ok

put the slower ram into slots 2/4 boot it bios and set the timing manually to 11, 11, 11, 36 1600Mhz @ 1.55v.
reset and fit other kit. if still not working.... dump the 8gb kit and just run the 16gb kit as that all you will need anyway.

the 16gb kit is replacing the 8gb kit but its not working when i put both 8gb ram sticks into motherboard, its only works with 1 8gb ram stick, i want it to work with 16gb

ok i understand your problem now.

i trust you have removed all overclocks and reset bios to defaults.
Try both stick in all slots, both as a set and both stick by there self again in all slots.

try to stick to the same ram as there could be conflicts make sure you have the latest bios and also try resetting the bios to default im not sure on the board but i know on the sabertooth 990fx there is a mem ok button on the board and it auto configures the memory to the best settings to make the sytem run see if there is a button like that on your board
