For many months I had problems with my pc crashing (which I described in this thread https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/crashing-freezing-in-every-game-and-in-browser.18727621/) I thought it was an SLI problem or it was cause by some other hardware e.g the PSU.
It turned out that the problem was related to the onboard sound and after disabling the onboard sound in the BIOS and device manager it stopped happening completely. (I use the GPU to output sound.)
Making sure the audio drivers are up to date could also help.
The second problem I had also involved the pc crashing a lot. The storage drives would get stuck at 100% usuage and lock up the system frequently. This problem was solved my using Intel Rapid Storage Technology and setting "link power management" to Disabled.
I'm sharing this here just incase it could help other people who are having similar issues. It could be worth a try before replacing your hardware.
