hello,

my dad has a 19" monitor and a 32" tv and he wishes to get an image out of both of them can you guys point me in the right direction

Is the TV equipped with a HDMI port? or even a DVI port? does the graphics card in question have a DVI and HDMI output?

If yes, then just hook the TV and monitor up and you will get a display on both screens, you can even set the graphics card driver to clone the display so both display an identical image and not just an extended desktop.

no it is a built in graphics card to the motherboard, he is not to bothered about res, and the tv has a vga input

most motherboards with onboard gpu can not support 2 monitors. even though my mobo has hdmi and dvi output, they won't both work at the same time. i have to use the dedicated gpu.

To extend the display, you would need another card, but i'm not sure about VGA splitters. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but someone else will probably know for sure.

Id say even so buy a new GFX card. Doesnt need to break the bank.

This would also be more capable of playing HD videos and doing also a extended screen if you wish.

you can pick up a lead for £2.99ish, bit of a price difference there. if its just to display the same pic on 2 displays and their current card does what they need then fair play. also, if he only has the options of vga then he will have to go down the route of adaptors anyway, even with a new card.
bare in mind though, if you want audio out though both monitor and tv then you will need to run audio cables for both sets of speakers, both with a vga splitter and with a new card.

this the kind of thing i mean
