Right, So I am looking for the quietest 2 slot GPU cooler around.

The original plan was to purchase a Phantom, and rely on a slight overhang off the bottom of the motherboard. Problem is, I've double checked, and it looks like the gap between the bottom PCI slot on the case and the PSU is basically 5mm max. From what I've read the Phantom cooler is more 2.5 slots, so this wouldn't work.

I'll probably get the 670 version of whatever card I go with as a reference.

The reason that the GPU has to go where it is is that basically the mATX boards, to allow for SLI, put the 4 slots as:
PCI-Ex16
PCI-Ex1
PCI-Ex16
PCI-Ex16

And there's no way I'm loosing my sound card, so I need the PCI x1 slot... Hence yeah, the dilemma...

The final option I guess, is to hope that they release a very quiet reference cooler on the 670... Something like the stock 560 cooler wouldn't go amiss I guess...

You could use a PCI-e extender and route the soundcard elsewhere, a bit fiddly but there flexible and there's a bloke somewhere on here not sure of the link that makes them up to 19" so you could squeeze the x1 up between the 2 PU's then mount the sound card anywhere you can fit it.

It makes perfect sense. Re read the op ;)

Use black varnish on The PCB. Sorted. it also gets rid of coil whine.

MSI twin frozr 670

Haha, Yes, Varnish... The good old cure for cases...

And it doesn't make sense....

The problem will be I'll have:
PCI-Ex16 (If GPU goes here it blocks the PCI-Ex1 slot)
PCI-Ex1 - SOUNDCARD
PCI-Ex16 - GPU
PCI-Ex16 - Second GPU slot
NO MORE SPACE

I was thinking the twin frozr might be an idea, although I guess looking at the size of the PCB they might make some kind of smaller version... hmm, I wonder how the reference 670 will be noise wise... Could do with something that looks more 'subtle'... I feel GPU is going to be somethign I buy last once I've worked out if I can squeeze a phantom in.. Bloody Mobo manufacturers, why can't they all just follow the Asus Gene layout on their slots...

Make sense now?!

I take it you haven't seen mal's other thread about varnishing his graphics card then?

You have 3x 16x pcie right?

GPU1
GPU2
Sound card

Or
GPU1
Sound card
GPU2

Huh, only just realised you can put a PCI-E sound card in a PCI-Ex16 slot... Silly me....

Problem solved I guess... So long as the above is true?
