Hey guys, just 2 small queries, I got my iPhone 4 to upgrade from my 3G-S, yesterday, I have used "The Site" as it came with 4.0.1 on it, which is all I'm going to say on that matter for forum purposes, but I have noticed since doing it (Maybe it was before and I just didn't register) That there is a smal amount of green ines at the top of the screen above the Apple logo as the phone starts up, I'm not sure if this is something from "The Site" or an underlying issue with the phone, woud you recommend taking it back and asking for a new phone?

Also I have downloaded the "Free case" app to stop, or at least drastically reduce the slightly scary signal loss (Not in a strong o2 area so its even more of a PITA here!) from touching it anywhere!

Does anyone have any insight onto what case/band they chose and why? I'm thinking the official Apple bumper, but also enjoy the look of the Griffin Reveal Edge.

As far as I know you can talk about jailbreaking no problem now, and the lines you mention are part of the jailbreak and nothing to worry about.

Best place for reading up on case advice / feedback would probably be the accessories topic. I went with the official Apple Bumper because I only wanted a simple case to cover the steel band, I'm pretty happy with it.

I ordered the Apple bumper, which is actually in my local town at the moment according to the delivery tracker. I'm guessing with Royal Mail, although it came from the Netherlands, so I'm not sure.

Obviously I wanted it to help the signal issue, but I would have got something similar anyway (not particularly an Apple one as the price is ridiculous) as it gives you a bit more of a grip on the phone. I am not dropping it!

Jailbreaking is fine to talk about. The lines you're experiencing is a known issue and happens to everyone. Fortunately it doesn't effect anything else.

Thanks mate, and wasn't sure about JB chatter as I've had no broadband for a few weeks, thanks :)

Yeah I'm tempted by the bumper, but worried about walking round at work (ICT Tech) with just the bumper for protection, the hard front and back do feel quite robust, but I might end up putting some form of screen protector on (The Anti Glare one on my 3G-S was brilliant!)

Did the bumper significantly improve your phone's signal keeping ability, even if you hold it over the black lines via the bumper?

I haven't got my bumper yet, hopefully tomorrow considering it's only 3 miles away :p

I've been told that the bumper doesn't resolve the issue, but instead of the signal dying all together it just gets reduced by one or two bars. It's ridiculous that Apple released something with such a massive flaw. I still bought one though  (my first iPhone, and I love it).

I have noticed it's difficult to make the bars drop in a high signal area. In the middle of town I can't reproduce the issue at all, I get a permanent full signal. Out here however, I can reproduce it almost instantly! It's never interrupted a call though, and I don't usually hold it on the bottom left area when using the phone, but I do notice a signal drop which makes my EDGE crawl out here, even when holding it above the black stripe.

I ended up buying a Pro-Tec generic smart phone case for mine as I'm on-site quite a bit with it, and I wanted something to keep it clean and safe in my pocket/bag/car. Very nice case with a pulley tab that slides the phone out, and a magnetic clip. It's slightly wider than the phone, so should fit perfectly once the bumper is on.

I went for the Belkin Shield Micra and I quite like it, I definitely prefer it to the bumper.

Mine was Jailbroken and thrown in a toilet and was still replaced under warranty by the 5th Avenue Apple store. Go figure. They even unlocked it for me as it was on O2 SIM.

Got my bumper yesterday. It makes a good enough difference and also makes the phone a lot better to hold when using it or calling people. Looks nice as well.
