2 small Dual vs 1 big Single

I have 2 screen and i dont know if i could go back to using just one. Its not the increased real estate, 2 screens means you get into the habbit of using certain apps on certain screen.

If you are a gamer i would go with 1 big screen, else if its for other work i would use 2 x tft.

With the 2407 and the 3007 you can use open in grid, it's an invisable grid you draw on the screen you can cut it up into as many peaces as you like, therefore it is like having 2 monitors, it has the benifits of 2 monitors but the size on one huge monitor, you have to use it too see the joy :)

i didnt know that.

Im selling my monitors to buy 2 x 24 as i want higher res screens for my 3d work. May come in handy

But i dont think that he can afford the 24 or thr 30 dell. 2 x 19" would only be £350 - £400 tops.

Does anyone else have problems with the grid not working if using multiple monitors with different resolutions?

On a couple of systems i've used if monitors of different sizes (and hence resolutions) are used the grids stop working on all monitors. I can only get the grids to work when the monitors use the same resolution - interestingly if I rotate one of the monitors to portrait the grid stops functioning. Put it back to horizontal and the grid works again. Very strange.

Nope it runs through one card. Why it doesnt work is beyond most of the SLI users too :)

Not sure if Crossfire supports dual monitor.

The whole point of SLI (e.g. two cards) is to get the most power out of the multiple GPUs. What would be the point in enabling the output from two ports, i.e. to two monitors, in SLI mode?

You might as well just run a single monitor off each card in normal mode.

And yes, if SLI mode is not enabled then you can run a monitor of each display output.

Nearly bought me another 1907FP, but missed the January sale, prices have gone back up :( I'll wait til the next one :)

How often are they? I'm sure I saw it cheaper still a couple of months ago, but had no thoughts about dual display at that time :p

I know how SLI works. You seem to have missed the point. Two ports that are switched on means dual monitors would be available. If you could set one monitor to the port that drives the SLI when it is needed, i.e. not all the time, then it'd be great. Im just letting others know you cant do that.

It's just a shame you cant enable/disable SLI without a restart, otherwise these problems wouldnt exist.

But you can enable/disable SLI without a restart! Well at least you can using the later versions of Forceware. I'm using three monitors driven by two SLI'd graphics cards - one card drives the centre monitor and the other card the left and right monitors. When SLI is enabled (using nvidia control panel without a restart) then the left and right monitors go blank and its full throttle on the centre one.

...Have gone from one 24" WS to two 20" WS and wouldn't swap back :)

Much more practical for getting things done on.

Agreed. From a work flow point of view 2 screens makes more sense.

From a single screen gaming point of view...24 or 30" dell all the way!

I wish. Im selling my 2 x 19" to get some higher res ones for 3d and image editing. They are fantastic for gaming but i need better one.

Im thinking 2 x 22" Belinea
