alright

Im in the very early stages plannin a build for october.
Looking at q6600 or maybe q6700 if i can scrape the cash together.
i want 4 gig of ram.
Basically.. do i buy 2 sticks of 2gb or 4 sticks of 1gb or 1 stick of 4gb??
Does this have a big effect?.. il want to do a bit of overclocking too.

Can anyone tell me how the quad deals with each stick of ram?
..like - im sure it wont be this simple- but with 4 sticks of 1gb can the quad core designate 1 stick for 1 core or anythinglike that?

Cheers.

The quads just use it as 4Gb, its the same for any dual/quad core processor. I would just get 2x2gb sticks. I run OCZ 2x2gb kit on an E6600 and it runs quite happily. Plus, it means you could go to 8gb eventually . . . . :p
As you can see, im overclocked. Dont forget to get a 64-bit operating system for that 4gb.

That's the reason I went for 2x2GB instead of 4x1GB RAM. Hopefully it won't be needed for a while though.
