hi
My brother has 2 systems which he wants to network together and share with 1 internet connection. the problem is, he only has one of those useless usb modems in which to do it with. Is it possible to use router software on the one main system, and route the data through it & onto the internet. My concern is that the usb modem does not have an interface in which i can set an ip address.

Thanks

Or seriously just buy an ADSL Router.

Maybe £30-40 depending upon model but much simpler and also means that if the second PC wants access then the first machine doesn't have to be left on as it will be if you share the USB modem connection.

For the hassle of Windows Connection sharing it really isn't worth the effort compared to the outlay.

Yes you can but more hassle than it's worth. Just buy a new router/modem/gateway. Dead cheap now, and at least faster and more protection than pants USB modem. And you don't need the host PC to be on. And you have a DHCP server assigning IP.
