Hello

I purchased a G29 2 weeks ago after I bought F1 2019 on the steam summer sale, it worked fine on that (maybe happened a few times at the beginning but nothing on this scale) but now I'm playing F1 2020 and this is happening and it's completely ruining my experience, it has rendered the game completely unplayable for me.. I'm really new to racing sims and it's the only one I play so I can't really test this in other games.

Everytime I boot up the game, usually after 5-10 mins or so of actual racing (its fine on desktop and in-game menu's) it starts disconnecting and reconnecting multiple times whilst changing my bindings to the default layout, it appears to be random and no particular action seems to trigger it, I am at a complete loss on what's wrong. The wheel doesn't recallibrate when it reconnects, it just brings me to the in game menu telling me my controller has been disconnected, and I can hear the desktop USB connection/disconnection sounds.

I have tried multiple USB ports on my PC including the 2.0 USB port thats on my keyboard, all have the same result, I have also uninstalled GHUB properly following the guide on the website, and reinstalled and it is still doing it. I also disabled all the power management options for my USB ports and devices via the device manager, still happening..

Has anyone had this issue? Please help, it's starting to drive me nuts.

I assume you have Windows 10 and G-HUB 2020.4.47660, which the the current version installed?
When the wheel disconnects, can you alt-tab into Windows>right click Start>device manager and see if it shows a yellow bag for the hardware?
That might give you a clue if this is a driver issue.

@mods1965 yes and yes

I’m in work at the moment so I will test later, but I’m going to assume since it disconnects and reconnects instantly, by the time I’ve alt tabbed it will already be reconnected and appear to be “working fine”.

Also there is no option to update drivers for the G29 in the GHUB, and I read somewhere that the G29 is driverless, it’s just plug and play on all devices.

You might have to connect it up on another PC you can access. If it does the same thing, you have a good idea the device has got a problem and RMA. If it works, you might be looking at a W10 hard reset to clean the system and start again.
Always a nightmare when these things happen.

Would it pop up in the Event Viewer if it’s disconnecting, and if so what section? I had a quick look last night and couldn’t see anything but I don’t know if I was looking in the right place within the event viewer..

So the game received a patch last night and the usb disconnection didn’t happen and I played for over an hour. Confused.. Can a game be the problem with things like this rather than the pc?

Maybe this has been a game issue and the developer had to patch. Have you read the game patch notes to see if this was listed as an issue? Is it now working as expected?
