Hi Slightly strange question here. I have a Virgin Media broadband package. Would it cause any issues to have another cheaper WiFi package from another provider at the same time? I know it doesn't make much sense financially but there is a long, long list of boring reasons. I just want to know if this is a setup that would work or would I be creating issues for myself

Well it will just be two different lines coming in. You can have one set of devices connected to the VM SH and another set to the other internet connection. Unless you want to join the two lines together? Then that will cause a lot of problems. What exactly are you trying to achieve? Faster speeds?

Really poor WiFi on Virgin. Everything else is good - I have wired connections to 3 rooms and or does everything I need for WFH. I could explain everything I've tried to resolve this, but it would be pages long. Just wondering if this is worth a shot. I have WiFi, it's just very poor for streaming etc

Why don't you explain your exact problems here, as by what you have said above, a second ISP isn't a smart way of fixing the problem.

So you basically want to extend the Wi-Fi coverage? In that case another ISP is definitely not the right solution. As you already have cables going to other rooms, all you want is access points. You can set them up with the same SSID and password as the superhub so your phones, TVs, etc can connect and swap between them. There are some mesh kits too that supports ethernet backhual which will make the swapping between points more seamless. All depends on your budget.

Or do you mean the actual internet itself is slow? Internet =/= Wi-Fi. Internet speeds is what you're getting from outside to the router, Wi-Fi is what the router/access point is broadcasting for your devices to connect to it. You can have a very fast line but being bottlenecked by poor Wi-Fi, or vice versa. Can you do a speed test on a wired device?

The definition might help, you don't have a wifi provider. You've got an internet provider who generally gives you some wifi equipment which is often rubbish.

You can just change the wifi equipment.. as above what you probably need is a wifi mesh setup and lots of those such as eero/google wifi/bt whole home/netgear orbi would work out of the box.

You can go way way way over the top if you listen too hard to things you "need" eg wifi6/ethernet backhaul etc. Nice to have for sure but you can end up with a setup topping £500 and the rest.. generally not necessary.

What I can say is I have a house full of smart home stuff, 2 of us work from home basically constantly, I have 400 up and down fttp and my wifi 5 bt whole home setup is totally and completely a fine and was inexpensive.

If it's just the wifi not being strong enough, get another router and put the VM Hub into modem mode.
