Hi all,

After I formatted my machine a few weeks ago and installed windows 7 again ive been having this stupid boot option after the bios.

Its a black screen with white writing and it asks me which operating system i'd like to start. both options are Windows 7. The first option I hit enter and windows starts normally. The second option doesnt work and I dont know how to get rid of it. I only have 1 copy of windows 7 installed on my machine and this option is really annoying me. Any idea how to get id of it?

Thanks.

Either:

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced tab -> Startup and Recovery settings
Untick "Time to display list of operating systems".
The menu will be there, but it will skip past showing it.

Or:

Start -> search "msconfig"
Click Boot tab -> Select the O/S you want to remove (not showing as Current O/S) and click delete
Tick "Make all boot settings permanent" and click OK.
Click Yes to confirm and reboot when asked.

I would guess when you formatted, you didn't do it correctly and it left the old boot sector, which had the old O/S listed. Reinstalling just amended the new install onto the list.
