I'm building a new pci-e set up and I've seen this, OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series here on OcUK.I will be getting a 680i board that supports up to 8 GB running Vista and wondered if anyone thought it was good/bad idea. Its only £165 and thought I would future proof my new system.Any ideas.

Which CPU will you be buying?

Providing you aren't needing to clock the memory past ~850mhz, there is no reason not to buy a 2x2gb kit (other than it costing more that two 2x1gb kits ofcourse).

I'm thinking of a Q6600 as they seem to be getting good reviews, plus an EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard.

I'd go for a P35 based board rather than 680i unless you are going to be running SLi. P35 is much better for Quads.

And the OCZ 2x2gb kit will be fine for a Q6600.

I use those exact same ones. I like them. They run cool. Not like the GeIL ULL stuff which is hot, hot, hot. Mine runs at 850Mhz.
