Hi guys..

I've been running BF4 with 1 Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC scale res at 130 in the game no problems.
I upgraded to Crossfire now 2 x 290 Tri-X OC as i wanted to up the scale res more as i'm using 1080p.
Still at scale 130 res. the frame rate seems ok, but it's don't feel as smooth as before. if there anything i've missed that i shouldn't change etc?

Cheers :)

P.s. just tried rfactor, and it has a stutter then goes back to desktop whiles running in the back groud. i'm using the 14.7 drivers

If you are 100% sure you're on 14.7 then I'd do a ddu sweep and reinstall as that error references 14.4...

I went back to 14.4 to try that. In rfactor I get graphics flickering when crossfire enabled. Had no problems with 7970 crossfire.
What u think could be wrong.. what would you say is the max scal res it should handle in bf4 1080p.
No matter what uninstall program I use, it always leave some files in the regeristy

I use 4770K cpu.

Cheers.

Ok just tried this, but still rfactor stutters , then it will say rfactor has stoped working. hmmm any ideas what else i could try? also any setting to use in Afterburner?

Thanks Matt:)

I use these afterburner settings, so you could try those I suppose. Unfortunately i have no experience with that game. Infact I've never even heard of it. :p

One thing you could try if a game has stutter is to use Vsync and or cap the fps at 59 or 60. Sometimes that can help smooth things out a bit.

Ok i try that.. rfactor is a racing game;)
Matt in BF4, what would you say is the max i could go with the scaling res? 150 180% ? i'm running at 1080p.
Also in the bios, should cpu graphics be disabled?

Thanks.

Yeah, try 150-180%.
200% with maxed AA quickly gets into exceeded vram stutter fest territory.

Onboard gfx shouldn't be on.

Seems if i go 130 or 150 180, it's don't feel so smooth! the frame rates ok..
If i go single card at 130, it's smooth. reason for another card, i just wanted higher candy ;)
So not sure what's going on..

I have a 860w Seasonic PSU that wouldn't be the problem ?

Cheers.

If it helps, I just ran it @150%/Ultra/4xAA etc on Shanghai 64 with cards at stock and cpu @4.8 and it peaked at around 650W at the wall (including a couple of SSD's, pump, 6 fans, UV lights etc).

To be perfectly honest, I have good eyesight and I struggle to notice any real difference between 100-150+%. Perhaps a touch smoother looking, but nothing that makes me say wow.
YMMV and all that :)

Heads up. Resolution scaling does add latency. Best off finding a sweet spot.

This is a lot more noticable with 2 cards then say 1 card.. very strange..
Shame they don't do 4k 144hz monitor. :D
