2 x 780Tis in SLI - can I run 3 gaming screens?

Got myself in a right pickle here, all sorts of old/ new/ conflicting advice over if this works or not.

Basically, I have 2 x 780Tis running in SLI. How might I go about connecting up 3 identical 1920 x 1080 monitors for surround gaming, and still be able to use SLI, which you obviously need to power it? I've tried the nvidia tool on the website and when you choose 'SLI mode' in the drop down it doesn't work.

This one http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/3dvision-surround/system-requirements

Can anyone provide/ link the definitive answer please?

use 3 x dual link dvi, the cards will have 4, this is good for both 3 x 60hz and 3 x 120hz, no overpriced adaptors needed

then just select 'span displays with surround' in the nv control panel under sli settings

This.

Connect the 2 monitors to the top card and then the 3rd to the bottom card. They might be the wrong way round but swapping positions in the "Setup multiple displays" will easily fix that.

Thanks guys. But, I thought that if you connected anything to the 'bottom' card then it disabled SLI. That tomshardware link doesn't answer the question either does it?

That's the other thing. The 3 monitors (if I do it) might be the eizo fg2421 models which are 120hz.

Can I not just hook them all up to the top card, 2 on DVI and one on display port and still get 120hz on each, and have SLI running????

If memory serves the centre screen must connect to the top card.

sli still runs with monitors connected to the bottom card when running in surround. you have to connect two monitors to the top card and one to the bottom, no way around that. trust us it works, you can't run iracing at 6060x1080, 3D, 2xsgssaa at 60fps on a single 780 :D

trust us it works,

That's why I love this forum, I oddly do trust answers on here more than anywhere :)

So, no problem running 3 screens this way. To confirm (for 2x 780tis):

1. Two monitors would be connected to the top card (to both Dvi ports) and one to the top (or bottom?) Dvi port on the bottom card yes?

2. Must they be 'dual link dvi cables' for all 3 monitors even though they are only 1920x1080? I thought dual dvi cables were only for resolutions above that. Is that to hit the 120hz spec?

3. Will this method definitely support 120hz on all screens?

4. Here's a real curve ball. I currently have a dell 29" 2560 x1080 21:9 super wide. If I go for the mad 3 screen eizo surround I would like the dell screen over the top to use for photo editing, AND the option of gaming on as a sole screen sometimes.
Could I connect this screen to either of the 780's mini display ports or hdmi port whilst still all supporting SLI and everything working as it should? (I have a connection on my motherboard for a graphics card which the dell 29 could connect to for general use or editing, but I obviously couldn't game on it through this.)

1. yup
2. dual link is for 120hz yes, single is fine if the screens are only 60hz
3. yes this method supports 120hz and 3D fine, it's what i run
4. i've had 5 displays connected to mine (3 surround monitors, oculus rift and a projector) at once with zero probs, granted you can't use them all at once but there's no issues. you can use 4 at once , 3 x surround + a general screen, i don't run a 4th like this but it'll certainly work
